Everything in Her Power has so much history and hope contained in four words. A
fitting title for a singular novel that successfully exposes the root of crippling patriarchy whilst offering a multi-dimensional portrayal of what it means to experience womanhood. Dr. Uche Theresa Okafor achieves a masterful odyssey of intersectionality between Daughterhood, Motherhood, family, female agency, power and the economics of power. Everything in Her Power offers a critique of a system that constantly fails to protect women. Ola’s story speaks to the plight of many women across cultures, and around d the world. Far too many women know what it means to walk in Ola’s shoes. For far too many people, the subjugation of women remains acceptable – a fact which gives Okafor’s novel its power.
