A sexualidade em África é muito complexa, marcada por desafios e avanços, sobretudo com o advento da colonização. É difícil identificar as culturas negro-africanas e o que foi importado ou emprestado. Este estudo analisa os factores socioculturais que influenciam as consultas médicas nas zonas urbanas e rurais de Bandundu, na República Democrática do Congo.O objetivo é compreender como os tabus, as crenças tradicionais e as normas sociais moldam o comportamento de procura de saúde. O estudo combinou métodos descritivos e analíticos para fornecer um quadro pormenorizado das determinantes socioculturais e demográficas.Uma disciplina pouco conhecida no meio urbano-rural, bem como a falta de dados documentados sobre o assunto, motivaram-nos a realizar este inquérito.
